By Rehana AhamadHundreds of energized students from various schools across Georgetown converged at the National Cultural Centre yesterday, as yet another segment of the Children Mashramani Competitions got underway.Under the theme “Cultural Folklore, Celebrating 44,” the ‘Dramatic Poetry’ aspect of the competition commenced on Monday, after which the much anticipated dance segment kicked off yesterday from 10:00hrs.It started with performances from adorable Nursery School students. It was spectacular, and although the little ones were all deserving of the much coveted first place position, the judges had the tough task of choosing what they thought were the top three groups.Below the age of five, and dancing their way to the first position in the ‘Religious Beliefs’ category, were the students of Bel Air Nursery School, who were followed by Green Acres Nursery in second position,Cheap Jerseys Free Shipping, and Lodge Nursery in third place. Before continuing the programme, Master of Ceremonies Travis Chase announced that trophies were not going to be presented at the end of the competitions. He said that employees of the Ministry of Culture Youth and Sport will be delivering the winning prizes to the respective institutions.Nonetheless, in the ‘Fantasy’, the judges found that the group representing J.E. Burnham Nursery was deserving of first position,Cheap NFL Jerseys, with Head Start Nursery copping the second place. The ‘Ring Games’ category saw South Ruimveldt Nursery taking the first position,Cheap Jerseys From China, followed by Gacestock and Head Start Nursery in second and third positions respectively. After a brief break, the competitions continued with the students aged five to seven years old. Wowing the judges with their dance moves in the ‘Religious Beliefs’ category, were the youngsters from St. Ignatius Primary School, followed by those representing the North Georgetown and St. Pius Primary Schools respectively.Tucville Primary, was the winning institution in the ‘Fantasy’ category, while North Georgetown Primary came in second, followed by Colaaco Primary School. In the ‘Ring Games’ category, St. Agnes Primary School emerged victorious,NFL Jerseys China, leaving Sophia Primary and Rama Krishna Primary Schools to take up the second and third positions. After a one-hour break for lunch, the competitions continued with the older children, ages eight to 10. At this point, the performances became a lot more interesting.Green Acres Primary copped the first place in the ‘Religious Beliefs’ category,China Jerseys Cheap, followed by St. Pius and Stella Maris Primary Schools respectively.Things got exciting as the Social Commentary segment got underway. Earning the first position in that category was the Tucville Primary School, with a piece entitled- “Children’s Cry for Humanity,” which had a gripping effect on the audience, almost bringing tears to the eyes of a few teachers.St. Agnes came in second position with their dance depicting “Madness in Town.”Following in third place in the Social Commentary category was Sophia Primary School, with a piece called –”See Dem Tek Ova.” This humorous performance addressed the issue of the Chinese and Brazilian nationals “tekkin ova” the gold mining industry. In the ‘Interpretive’ category, St. Margaret’s Primary School came in first position, with their dance title – “Keeping It Alive,” followed by St. Agnes Primary earning second place with their piece “Mash Time.” Third position in that category was awarded to the students performing on behalf of the East La Penitence Primary School.“Legends and Traditions,” was another category that saw the St. Margaret’s Primary School emerging victorious, followed by North Georgetown Primary and Anais Private School in second and third positions respectively. The last category was a disappointing one, since this very old and meaningful tradition saw only one entry. As such, the North Georgetown Primary School was named winner of the “Masquerade” part of the competition. The five students from that school, doing a piece titled ‘City,’ were the only ones to actually receive their trophy yesterday. That act brought the curtains down on yesterday’s event.Today will see a continuation with performances from students in the 11 to 13 category.Meanwhile, simultaneously, children’s competitions in commemoration of Mashramani are being held in regions all across the country.Mashramani is observed every year on February 23, as a celebration of Guyana becoming a Republic in 1970.Activities commemorating Mashramani usually commence from as early as January, and include singing, costume and essay competitions for both children and adults,<a href="http://www.wholesaleauthenti
