By Leon SuseranTwelve Guyanese graduated on Tuesday after completing medical studies in Cuba over the past seven years. The doctors spent the past six months doing their internship at the New Amsterdam Hospital. The ceremony followed several other graduations at the other hospitals across the country which saw over 65 new doctors being delivered into the healthcare system.By the end of this month, more than 300 doctors would have returned from Cuba.Present at the ceremony which was held at the Boardroom of the Berbice Regional Health Authority (BRHA) were Dr. Maria del Carmen Lozado,Cheap Arizona Diamondbacks Hoodies, Head of the Cuban Medical Brigade (CMB); Dr. Manuel OsorioNew graduate doctors with BRHA officials and CMB officials of Cuba (head of CMB is in front & centre)Serrano, Teaching Director of the CMB; Mercedes Vazallo Zolveta, Teaching Secretary of the CMB; and Dr. Javier Lopez Napoles, Director of the CMB in New Amsterdam.“Together with the medical system, we are offering services that we have been offering to the Guyanese people for more than 40 years,” said Dr. Lozado, head of the CMB. She added that the body has participated in all the graduations held around Guyana at the various hospitals under direction of the regional administrations.“That is the product of the sacrifice of our students and the workers and professionals involved in the teaching process…for the Guyanese people.”Dr. Lozado added, “We are graduating professionals that have a very good professional formation and we have trained and formed them with our ethical principles to respond to the interests of the people of Guyana…That is the most important thing— the health of the Guyanese people.”The official also mentioned that the health of all Cuba-trained doctors “is the most important thing and with those values, we have tried to teach them all.”“These graduations give the truth of the ideas of our Commander-in-Chief, our Leader Raul Castro and we are dedicating these graduations to the 60th anniversary of the ones who initiated our fight for liberation.”“This date is of great importance for (the students) we are graduating and they were formed under the tutorship of the Cuban School of Medicine.” She stated that the Cuban Government is delivering the new doctors to the people of Guyana “and we are certain that they are going to stay here, serving Guyana…long live Cuba!”“Today, we received the product of the forces between the governments of the two countries,” said Dr. Napoles. He mentioned that the CMB of Cuba recently visited Guyana with the idea to specialize more doctors for Guyana.The new Guyanese doctors from Berbice are Drs.
