– Essequibo teenager is best graduating studentThe Guyana Defence Force (GDF) on Wednesday hosted its ensigncy parade at Base Camp Ayanganna where 15 officer cadets who completed the standard officers’ course were promoted to ensigns.The best graduating student was Simon Gordon from the Guyana Defence Force. He said that he was happy with the cooperation between the Guyana Defence Force and sister Caricom state Belize.“I’m pleased about it and I do hope that this relationship will continue,” the President said. He also urged the graduating ranks to act with integrity and not to be carried away with temptations.President Ramotar also stressed that the Army must not restrict its role to the protection of Guyana’s borders but must also lend a helping hand to other law enforcement agencies, especially in the fight against drug trafficking.He also expressed his discomfort with the number of ranks who are “Absent Without Leave” (AWOL) from the force.According to the President, the ranks who stay away from their duty without just reasons are imperiling the future of the Army. Ramotar said that their actions are affecting the security of Guyana and also “shortchanging” taxpayers whose money was spent to train them.These acts are as a result of indiscipline and must be rooted out from the Force, he added.The standard officers’ course Number 46 commenced on March 15, 2013 with 25 officer cadets,Discount NFL Jerseys, but during the period of training, 10 persons either withdrew or failed to achieve the minimum standard of the course.The syllabus of the course includes an intensive programme of military skills and tactics,Wholesale China Jerseys, rigorous physical fitness,Wholesale Stitched Jerseys, team activities designed to promote stamina and group spirit.
