A 32-year-old labourer yesterday refused to hear of a $25,000 fine alternative and instead, begged for a ten-month imprisonment much to the surprise of the courtroom.Richard Campbell, who claimed to reside at Central House,Cheap Jerseys Free Shipping, Seawall Road, appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson to answer a charge of simple larceny. It is alleged that on June 19,Cheap Jerseys Free Shipping, last,Jerseys Cheap, on Robb Street, Georgetwon, he stole $18,Wholesale China Jerseys,700 from a vehicle belonging to a vendor.Campbell told the court that he had sold a DVD player to the vendor for $20,000 but encountered difficulties in obtaining that sum when he approached the man for payment two days later. He said the vendor,Wholesale NFL Jerseys, assisted by another man, was unpacking vegetables from his minibus when he approached him. Again the man was very reluctant to pay him,Cheap NFL Jerseys, he said. Campbell said the male vendor told him he will have to assist with the unpacking before he gets paid and this drove him to anger. He said he began protesting and the man then vehemently refused to ‘pay him anything’.Campbell explained to the court that he pulled away some cash the vendor had in his hand and handed over to a female city constable telling her that the man was refusing to pay him. He said that by his actions he intended for the officer to force the vendor to pay him the sum he claimed he was owed. The labourer continued that several rural constables began to beat him and took him to the Bourda Outpost since by this time the vendor had run up and had reported that he stole the money.According to Campbell the cash was handed over to the vendor but with $8,000 missing. The female city constable said that she was on patrol duty on Robb Street at the time of the incident when she was approached by the vendor called Imran Khan, who dictated that Campbell stole the cash from his vehicle. She said a search on his person unearthed only $10,500 which was promptly handed over to the vendor. She further stated that on the day of his arrest Campbell had given them an address in Sophia and not the one he supplied in court yesterday. When Magistrate Melissa Roberston informed Campbell that he was required to pay a fine of $25,000, or serve 12 months in prison, the man loudly proclaimed, “My worship I speaking the truth; she thief the man money. God will deal with her, don’t waste the court’s time. Give me my sentence”.The magistrate imposed a 12-month sentence on the labourer who just sadly responded, “My worship, please give me ten months instead”. His wish was granted and he left the court with head bowed to be escorted to prison.
