The business community came out with immense support yesterday, handing over almost $2M towards the completion of the rebuilding of the Theatre Guild which is scheduled for a June 28 opening.Among the donors yesterday was Atlantic Tele-Network (ATN), the parent company of the Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company (GT&T), which volunteered $1M towards the restoration efforts after a request was made.According to Ms Sonita Jagan who handed over the substantial donation, ATN readily offered to support the venture since it was considered an important and worthy one by GT&T.Also contributing substantially in the amount of $500,000,Air Jordan 11 Retro Low Pas Cher, John Fernandes Group of Companies offered its second bout of assistance to the cause.Representing the entity,Nike Air Max 90 China, Mr Bernie Fernandes related that after being approached by the Trustees of the Theatre Guild, a decision was taken to “round off” the amount already donated, making it $1M.And according to him, it was not a big decision to make since the project is viewed as one that will bring back the nostalgia of theatrical entertainment.Fernandes explained that long before the construction of the National Cultural Centre, the Theatre Guild was the place where persons could go in order to experience wholesome entertainment.Other donors yesterday were the International Pharmaceutical Agency which in addition to cash will also be providing treated water to the facility through its water-purifying arm,Manchester City Store UK, Clear Water,Manchester City FC Kit 2018/19, on a permanent basis, Nigel’s Supermarket, Grace Kennedy Remittance Services,Claudio Bravo Manchester City Jersey, Gizmos and Gadgets, and Dr Toolsie Dial.The latter donor was aptly represented by Scotiabank Manager, Mr Esau Shamshudin,Manchester City Fc Store, who related that although Dr Dial resides in the United States he has over the years remained committed to supporting local projects.Starr Computers will also donate a copier and Food for the Poor is slated to provide a quantity of office equipment.In commending the generosity of the donors, Major General (Retd) Joseph Singh, said his last check of the financial support already offered has amounted to about $60M.He added though that with the landscaping and other voluntary work carried out at the facility, the works could be valued at a covering cost of more than $90M.After a year-long fundraising drive, the spanking new theatre is expected to be one of the best in the region and will be unveiled with a performance for contributors to the project.
