Anil Persaud was yesterday sentenced to three months in jail after pleading guilty to a charge of simple larceny. The matter was heard by acting Chief Magistrate Priya Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.Corporal Venetta Pindar told the court that on October 30, last, at Prashad Nagar, Georgetown, the accused who was employed by Bhaunaswar Sahadeo as a porter/cleaner, made good his escape with a quantity of nuts, bolts and washers cost of $10,000.Pindar stated that the plaintiff operates his business below his home at Prashad Nagar. The prosecutor went on to explain that on the day of the incident the accused saw when another employee took out the articles that were supposed to be marketed, and he subsequently removed them.
