He said that there is much more to economic growth than buying or selling with specific reference to production.He added that his government welcomes investors, not only in trading, but also agro-processing, energy generation, information technology, telecommunication, engineering, fishing, housing, mining, manufacturing and tourism all of which can be of benefit from a country with a larger economy.Guyana’s economic policy is predicated by the necessity for economic freedom, he said, and that Government pursues a market-based economy through policies that promote investment in the productive and the commercial sectors.Economic freedom presupposes the rights of businesses to earn profit, and the right to foreign investors to repatriate those profits.
