Some $90,000 is expended on a daily basis by the Mayor and City Council of Georgetown (M&CC) to power the buildings within the compound of City Hall with the use of a generator. The agreement, King said should have seen GPL reconnecting power to City Hall immediately after the exchange of cheques.As a result, he revealed that Deputy Mayor and Chairman of the municipality’s Financial Committee, Robert Williams, has since inked a letter to Justice Persaud which has been copied to GPL, highlighting the municipal concerns.“We were and still are disappointed that GPL has not reconnected City Hall. The thing of most concern is that GPL is aware that we don’t owe on the buildings in City Hall. All we owe for right now is for street-lighting.” And the amount owing for street-lighting, King said, is yet to be verified. He disclosed that currently a verification process is ongoing as it has been recognised that many streetlights that fall under the responsibility of the municipality do not work.Without electricity, King said that the municipality is forced to utilise about $90,000 daily to power key buildings at City Hall, including those that house the Constabulary, the City Engineer’s Office, the Treasury,Wholesale NFL Jerseys, the Town Clerk, Mayor and Deputy Mayor’s Offices, with a generator.
